Things I Overhear on Campus

Two girls talking over lunch: The Provo Temple looks like a spaceship. It's not cute at all!

I personally think that the Provo Temple looks like a cupcake with an candle on top

A girl telling her friend about her mission call to Toronto: Toronto is near New York right?

My professor talking about how gasoline is highly taxed in California: I wish that I were a young single man in California. Then when I would take a young fox on a date I could tell her that because gas is so expensive that we can't drive so then we'll just have to sit in the car and fog up the  windows.

Girl at the nail salon: Your boyfriend served his mission in the Philippines? So he speaks Spanish then?

It's all golden and I love it

Now we can talk about incredibly silly things I've done the past few weeks:

-Walked into the wrong classroom, sat down, and pulled out my books. The professor told me that they were having a class in that room and that I had to leave. I don't think I've ever turned to red.
-Discovering in yoga that I had terrible balance. Enough said.
-Forgetting my new phone number every time someone asks for it.

Day 100

I have lived in Israel for 100 days

I've learned more than I could possibly imagine in those 100 days

I've studied the scriptures
Traveled to new places
Walked where Jesus walked
Made friends who feel like family

Thanks for teaching me so much Israel

Hezekiah's Tunnel

This afternoon we didn't have any classes so we decided to walk though Hezekiah's Tunnel without flashlights. It was very very dark. Here are some pictures from our adventure:

Us at the start of the walk. The water was so cold!

Going around corners was really scary because it made you feel like you were walking the wrong direction.

Some people hid and grabbed at our feet. Talk about terrifying!

If you haven't walked though a cave in the dark I highly recommend it. The pictures don't do it justice.

Jessie

This is My Best Friend Jessie:

Grad Banquet-2009

Jessie and I have been friends since junior high and have had some pretty good times together.
She got her mission call this week and is going to be serving in the Vancouver Canada Mission.

I am so excited for her! I know that she is going to be a wonderful missionary, and that she is going to change many lives with her sweet testimony of the Gospel.

Jessie and I have been friends since we've been 14. We both knew of each other from other people but had never spoken to each other, because I thought she was insane and she thought I was a mute. (I was painfully shy until I was about 16) We became friends at a church dance when we both went outside to cool off. We ended up siting on the grass and talking for a few hours and haven't stopped talking since.

Grade 12
At efy. We look so young here!
Another efy photo.

Us at efy again. We were roommates that year and had a blast.

I have so many good memories with Jessie. One summer shortly after I had finished my freshman year of College we went for a swim in Lake Sundance while it was raining. We swam out to the bouys and talked for over an hour about of first year of university. Another favorite memory is the weekend Jessie and I went on a road trip to Edmonton. We had so much fun hanging out with friends and riding the roller coaster at West Edmonton Mall. When I was going though a very unpleasant breakup Jessie invited me to come babysitting with her. After the kids were in bed we ordered a large pepperoni pizza and ate it while we watched Elf. Doing that cheered me up a lot. This last semester Jessie skyped me one Sunday when I was feeling very stressed about finals. It made my week so much better.

I'm going to miss this girl to the moon and back when she leaves, but I know we will be able to pick up our friendship right where we left off when she gets home, because that's what best friends do!

At my 16th birthday party. This picture describes Jessie perfectly.

what happens when you forget to log out of your gmail on a public computer

Subject: From You To You

Dana! Its you, I mean me but really you but from the future! Using the advanced technology discovered 30 years from now, I am sending you an email... from 40 years in the future. I want to tell you about what you can expect in life and what to watch out for. If I timed this correctly, you are currently doing your study abroad in Jerusalem. If so, don't eat the nutella! In the future, we have discovered tha nutella is just as addictive as smoking and that it causes cancer and stuff. Do eat the french toast though, we now know that 1 slice of french toast is like eating 10 viatim pills. Oh! This is important to. When Harper introduces the legislation on legalizing velicraptor cloing, VOTE NO! I don't have the time to tell you the probably that causes in 10 years. But about your life, you will probably want to know who you marry. I'll answer that with two words: Latin Spice (you go girl!). Take all the Latin ballroom you can so your hips don't lie at your recpetion. And guess what! All your childhood dream job will come true! You'll become Canada's most reknown cat massager. You'll be so happy. Have a great life little me!

Things That Were Awesome This Week

This weeks list of awesomeness

1. This picture

2. My new phone. I have finally joined the world of  smartphones. Yay Dana!
3. My new job. I love my job so much. I'm pretty sure my workplace is all of the happiness in the world condensed into a small bubble. Everyone I work with is so happy and nice, and I get to go outside when I work. Also it is socially acceptable to wear shorts and sandals so I have started wearing shorts to work. It's a dream!
4. Getting to eat at Peters'. It is the best burger and milkshake joint in the city. It was delicious and I got to enjoy it with my entire family!

5. Only having a four day workweek. We got Monday off because it was Heritage Day. Although I am loving my new job it is exhausting. Pushing wheelchairs is hard work! I am so happy it's the weekend.
6. Having a client that I worked with tell me that that I spent with her was the best day of her entire life. Although I don't think that is entirely true it was the sweetest thing EVER and I am so glad that she had a good day.
7. Institute. I have never liked institute but I decided to try it out this summer. It is the best part of my week. Institute is awesome. I love that midweek I can come and be spiritually uplifted.
8.  The letter I got from my friend.
