Monday.

Monday is probably my favorite day of the week, work always seems to go better on Mondays. I think it might be that over the weekend I have time to recharge and am able to come in with new fresh perspectives on Monday. I seriously love my job though. I feel so blessed to have found at career so early in my 20's.

Home Evening is also another highlight of the day. Tonight we went to the mall and played 'Where's Waldo.' We had a list of about 10 people that we had to find. Some of the 'Waldo's' costumes were so good. It's a good think that my other group members have better observation skills than me because I probably wouldn't have found anyone.

It have become a tradition with my friends to go buy a pizza after Home Evening. I always feel sick after I eat pizza {I still eat it all the time though} but I love just stilling in a classroom and talking with everyone.

Now I'm home listening to 'Sweet Nothing'. Calvin Harris hasn't been this good since he teamed up with Ellie Goulding. Him and Florence Welch make a great team.

Big Yellow Taxi

Today in world religions class my professor asked us why we need to see someone who is blind to be grateful that we can see? 

That question has been on my mind all day 

Why is it that we need to see what others don't have to make us grateful for what we do have?

I don't have a good answer to this question. I think it is human nature to not know how much we have until we see something different. The chorus to Big Yellow Taxi by Counting Crows says:

Don't it always seem to go,

That you don't know what you've got 

Til its gone

It's true a lot of the time we don't know what we have until its taken from us, or if see someone who doesn't have it. I think that this is a good thing! Last year I spent 5 months working with individuals who have disabilities. I learned so much in that five months that it would take me hours to list, but the most important thing that I learned was to be grateful. I learned to be grateful that I could walk, see, put my shoes on, zip up my coat, drive a car, eat without help, read, jump, dance, run, cook, sing, paint my nails, ice skate, brush my hair, buy a soda out of a vending machine, grab the change out of my wallet, type an email, and make my bed in the morning. 

This experience made me realize that I needed to work on being more grateful, and lately I have made an effort to do so. I am amazed at the impact that is has had in my life. I find that the small things that go wrong in my day are not a big deal, I see beauty wherever I go, and find it easy to love the people around me. I am so glad that my job gave me the nudge that I needed to make a change my outlook.

Thoughts About Jelly Shoes and Ellie Goulding

 Lately I've been noticing lots of girls on campus wearing shoes that look like this:

 

My reaction is always, "Ewwww jelly shoes. Sick" Followed by some confusion because I'm pretty sure I owned a pair of jelly shoes when I was nine. 

That changed today when an email from Little Burgundy found its way into my inbox. This email contained pictures of some of the most adorable jelly shoes on Earth.

Like this pair. If I ever become the owner of these gorgeous shoes I will never take them off.

Plus, they have butterfly on them!

 

I have been proven wrong. Jelly shoes do not have to be terribly hideous, they can actually be extremely cute. 

This week I have become obsessed with Ellie Goulding. Obsessed to the point that I deleted fifteen applications off of my ipod in order to make room for her album, forced all of my roommates to listen to one of her songs, and have come up with five different plots to go to one of her concerts.

Prepare to be amazed.
